Healing Help for Hormones

Moon-pause is a natural part of a woman’s life cycle. Tumultuous symptoms such as night sweats, hot flashes, dry skin, headaches, mood swings, and lowered sex drive are NOT.

Western women fall prey to these symptoms because we have so many more “opportunities” to throw our hormones out of balance. We eat animals injected with steroids; eat vegetables sprayed with pesticides; use toxic cleaning agents; take medications, including contraceptives, that interfere with our hormones; and subject ourselves to overwhelming physical, emotional, and sexual stress. These factors of course contribute to unhealthy cycles during our child-bearing years (i.e., cramps, irregularity, heavy bleeding). And by the time of moon-pause, our hormones have been so abused and confused through the years we sputter and overheat into transition.

Can we enter our wisdom years in a more graceful fashion, naturally? Absolutely. Ridding the body of harmful chemicals is one step. Rebuilding the body with healing foods is another. Then we must rebalance our hormones, or re-train the body to take care of itself again.

An important acu-point for hormonal balance lies on the shoulders, at the highest point of the muscle where the upper back meets the neck. This is where we often hold the most tension as we attempt to carry the world on our shoulders. In giving ourselves daily 30-60 second shoulder rubs, we release stress and bring balance to our hormones -- important for both women and men, young and mature. Also to be used as a natural cool-down for a hot and bothersome flash!

Remember, ageing is an honor. If you would like to make a more fluid entrance into moon-pause, acu-point balancing makes an excellent escort.
